Yard Games at Weddings

Yard games at weddings are becoming more and more popular.  I can see why!  They’re so much fun!  Check out some of these yard games for even more laughter and mingling at your wedding!

Yard games are also another outlet to show your personalities and fun loving style into your reception.  You can get very creative and personalize the supplies of the games:  wedding date sewn into the cornhole bags, monograms painted on cornhole boards, your wedding colors to decorate the bocce balls, fun phrases on each giant Jenga piece, etc.  The possibilities are literally endless!  Check out Etsy  and my Pinterest page for some great ideas and for some vendors that can make custom supplies for your wedding yard games!

  1. Croquet
  2. Giant Jenga
  3. Cornhole
  4. Bocce ball
  5. Horseshoes
  6. Badminton
  7. Giant Yahtzee
  8. Ring toss

You can use rustic chalk board signs to direct guests to the lawn games.  Also, have a beverage booth set up nearby with refreshing beverages of your choice.  Lemonade in personalized plastic cups are great.  Or you can have your bartender serving your signature cocktail!  I’ve seen some weddings where they have tall posts surrounding the yard game area with twinkle lights strewn across them.  Make the game area a noticeable are so that your guests are drawn to it.

Don’t forget about the kiddos!  Most of these games are perfect for keeping them distracted (and well-behaved!!)  and letting them participate in the fun too!

My recommendation is to choose between 2 and 4 games for your guests.  Too few games and your guests will wait in line for a while.  Too many games and your guests won’t be able to mingle as well as you’d like.  So, choose some of your favorites, commit to them, and start having fun with the planning!  Don’t forget to include these items in your budget.  Use our budgeting tool to help you get started!

Have fun with it!!
